deforestation effects

These are the deforestation effects that i will try to explore in my project:

Reduced biodiversity: Deforestation and forest degradation can cause wildlife to decline. When forest cover is removed, wildlife is deprived of habitat and becomes more vulnerable to hunting. Considering that about 80% of the world's documented species can be found in tropical rainforests, deforestation poses a serious threat to the Earth’s biodiversity.

Release of greenhouse gas emissions: Forests are the largest terrestrial store of carbon and deforestation is the third-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions after coal and oil. Deforestation causes 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Of these, carbon dioxide emissions represent up to one-third of total carbon dioxide emissions released because of human causes.

Soil erosion destruction
Soils (and the nutrients in them) are exposed to the sun’s heat. Soil moisture is dried up, nutrients evaporate and bacteria that help break down organic matter are affected. Eventually, rain washes down the soil surfaces and erosion takes place. Soils never get their full potential back.

less oxygen
oxygen is important for life on earth. Living organisms, from single celled animals to humans, use oxygen to produce the energy required to sustain them. Since trees are larger plants, their production of oxygen is significant. It is estimated that 40 percept of the earth's oxygen is produced by tropical rainforests, though they cover only about 6 per cent of the land. Rainforests in the Amazon have declined by 17 percent in the last 50 years as a result of deforestation.
